The ruling and their subjects are affected by communication problems. Two families want to make us believe that the daughter is a boy and the son is a girl. Refusal to acknowledge reality is pervasive, and the ruler’s wife is acclaimed: “Viva l’Aurora, …viva!” These are the themes of the 2009/10 season: ubiquitous, timeless, harmless. Been there, done that: “Money for nothing and chicks for free”, as the British pop band Dire Straits ironised the superficiality of their times as early as in 1988. Nothing ever changes: the Congress dances on … keep it up!
